Volunteering in Victoria BC

Newcomers to Victoria are usually thrilled to be able to move here and you can’t blame them!  With undeniably the best climate in all of Canada, a friendly atmosphere and access to all sorts of recreational pursuits moving to Victoria is at the top of many people’s wish lists.

Starting a new job in the city or settling in to the retirement phase of your life, along with learning your way around will take a little time, but once that phase is finished you may begin looking for ways to interact with your new home in a deeper way, and one of the best ways to establish yourself in a new community is through volunteerism.

Perhaps you’ve already got ties to volunteer organizations with which you were involved in your previous home.  You’ll find that Victoria is home to a plethora of national and international service clubs like:

  • Rotary International;
  • Lions International;
  • Kin Clubs, and
  • Shriners International, to name but a few.

Maybe you have a specific volunteer activity that you have in mind, but don’t know how to get in touch with the right people to offer your services.  Volunteer Victoria is a local volunteer recruitment and referral centre supporting over 280 local non-profit organizations and they can surely use your help in whatever capacity you are willing and capable.

You won’t find a better way to meet wonderful people and get to know your new community than by giving of your time and expertise, so launch yourself into volunteering in Victoria BC.

Victoria BC Realtor Heather Wilde was raised and educated in Winnipeg. After graduating from both the University of Winnipeg (Bachelor of Arts) and the University of Manitoba Faculty of Education she relocated to British Columbia in 1975. Her career in real estate has been successful due to her commitment to and genuine pleasure at helping families find homes and properties for sale in Victoria BC. Heather was licensed as a Realtor in 1976 and since then has worked hard to achieve a high standard of performance; consistently attaining a Victoria Real Estate Board MLS Gold Award. If you ask Heather, she will undoubtedly say that although it’s nice to be recognized in the industry through performance awards, what really drives her success is the relationships and friendships she forges with the families that she helps. Many of Heather’s former clients have become close friends, and many of her close friends have become clients. That says a lot about her dedication to providing professional service while maintaining a friendly rapport with clients. Heather loves to travel the world (preferrably on a cruise ship!) and also enjoys tennis and bridge during her spare time. As of January 2014, Heather has retired from her real estate career.
