Ayum Creek Regional Park Reserve in Victoria BC

Ayum Creek Regional Park Reserve is presently undergoing some conservation and restoration work to enhance salmon spawning.  This sensitive ecosystem consists of a stream-fed estuary emptying into the Sooke Basin and long-term management plans for Ayum Creek include the development of this reserve as part of the Sea to Sea Green Blue Belt.

Ayum Creek is a spawning ground for wild coho and chum salmon, as well as steelhead and cutthroat trout.  The stream flows through mixed forest and highly sensitive wetlands that are one of the few remaining estuaries in the region.

Due to the sensitive and rare nature of this ecosystem, management plans are in place to safeguard the habitat, and future recreational use will be strictly limited to walking along designated trails.

How to Get to Ayum Creek Regional Park Reserve

Drive the Trans-Canada Highway north from Victoria, and take exit 14 to Sooke. Follow Sooke Road to just past Ludlow Road. There is parking by the bridge near the bus stop. It takes about 45 minutes driving time from Victoria to Ayum Creek. Visiting one of our beautiful regional parks is one of the best things to do in Victoria BC!
