Welcome to Victoria BC

Approximately 25-30% of Victoria real estate purchases are made by people from outside the region.  If you assume that most of these are couples (at least) there are something like 4,000 newcomers to Greater Victoria each year.

Moving to a new city can mean leaving family and friends behind, and facing the challenge of making new social connections.  One of the easiest ways to meet new people and learn about your new community is to join one of the local Newcomers Clubs.

Newcomers clubs are designed to give men and women the opportunity to meet and develop friendships with others who live in the area. Many of these groups have general meetings and interest groups which encourage members to learn about their new city, its culture, activities, lifestyle, and to develop friendships by sharing interests and hobbies with each other.

Newcomers Clubs in the Greater Victoria area include:

Victoria Men’s Newcomers Club is a group of more than 300 men whose objectives are: to welcome men who are new to the Greater Victoria area so that they may establish friendships and to provide ongoing social and sporting activities.  Membership in the Victoria Men’s Newcomers Club is open to all men who are residents of the Greater Victoria area.

Newcomers Club of Greater Victoria is open to women who have moved to the Greater Victoria area within the past three years.  Our mission is to promote social activities and community involvement for new arrivals to the region.  Members develop close friendships, expand their interests and learn more about the surrounding area through a wide range of monthly activities.

Peninsula Newcomers Club is for women who have chosen the Saanich Peninsula as their new home and offers an opportunity to meet and develop friendships within the area through a variety of social and activity groups.  Membership is open to any woman who has moved to this area within the last two years.

Victoria Evening Newcomers Club for Women welcomes any woman who has lived in the greater Victoria area for less than three years. The group helps women meet people in the community through informal dinner meetings and other social activities.

If you are a new resident of Greater Victoria you should check out one of these clubs.  They are sure to give you a great welcome to Victoria!
