Luxury Victoria Neighbourhoods – Gordon Point

Gordon Point is a luxurious community within the Saanich neighbourhood of Gordon Head. Renowned for its breathtaking oceanfront views, serene atmosphere, and elegant homes, this exclusive community epitomizes refined coastal living. Situated on the eastern edge of the municipality of Saanich, Gordon Point is minutes from the University of Victoria (UVic), Mount Doug Park, Gordon Head Recreation Centre, and some of the best beaches in the city. Despite being a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood by the beach, you can reach downtown Victoria from Gordon Point in about 15-20 minutes by car or bus.

 

Oceanfront Homes

The neighbourhood of Gordon Head is one of the most desired in the city, but the smaller subsection of Gordon Point is even more prestigious, home to some of the nicest custom-built oceanfront real estate in Saanich. Direct beach access certainly boosts the luxury appeal of the community.

Due to their prime location and close proximity to major centres like downtown Victoria, popular beaches and UVic, these Gordon Point homes are able to command easily north of a couple million dollars, with oceanfront options for even more.

 

Park Space & Beach Access Points

The Gordon Point neighbourhood is scattered with spacious parks and beautiful beach access points. The major park in the area is Mount Douglas Park (PKOLS), which features 21km of walking trails and some excellent views from the top. The park also backs onto Mount Doug Beach, a popular hangout for Gordon Head locals.

Coming down along the coast into Gordon Point, you’ll come across several smaller, more secluded beaches and parks. There’s Balmacarra Park with a peaceful, pebbly beach. Further south there’s Glencoe Cove with several beach access points. Heading further south you’ll find Gordon Head North Park and the rugged, rocky beach access point. Finally, you’ll reach Arbutus Cove & Gordon Head Beach Park, a peaceful oceanfront park with scenic views and an off-leash dog area.

Inland, there are several smaller parks for tennis, playgrounds, and letting the dog roam free. These include Sierra Park, Tyndall Park, Houlihan Park, and Vantreight Park – to name a few.

 

Gordon Head Rec Centre

Within walking distance from the Gordon Point neighbourhood is Gordon Head Recreation Centre, the newly updated hub for activities, sports and community. The rec centre is home to all the facilities you could need, including pools, hot tub, sauna, steam room, a weight room and sports courts. There’s even an auditorium, teen centre, skate park, and multiple fields for baseball and soccer next door. There are drop-in sports and activities available to all, plus you can enroll in fitness classes, personal training and lessons of all kind.

Drop-in at Gordon Head Rec is $7.75 for adults and includes access to all facilities like the pools, weight room and sports courts. 10x punch passes are available for $69.75, with discounts for youth and seniors. The various classes and lessons range in cost, but Kindergym, a drop-in program for kids aged 1-5, costs just $3.50 per kid.

 

The University of Victoria

UVic is the premier university in Victoria and one of the best in Western Canada. It’s a public research university that was originally established in 1903 as an early affiliate of McGill University and achieved independence in 1963. It now educates over 22,000 students. UVic is home to strong programs in Engineering and Computer Science, Business, Sciences, Law and Social Sciences. The UVic Vikes sports teams are also great entertainment and a pillar in the community, which include men and women’s basketball, soccer and rugby.

It’s a luxury living so close to a place like UVic. Along with the vibrant cultural scene, the university provides state-of-the-art facilities, learning opportunities and resources – many of which are available to the public.

 

Local Coffee Shop

There’s only one local coffee shop near Gordon Point and in all of Gordon Head, but it’s an excellent one. Township Coffee is located at 4343 Tyndall Avenue, next to Tyndall Park and walking distance from the Gordon Point neighbourhood. It’s a classic espresso bar that serves yummy homemade food.
