Harris Green is a super-small community on the edge of downtown Victoria. The mixed commercial and multi-unit residential neighbourhood is full of things to do, despite occupying just a few square blocks. There’s plenty to eat and drink in the area, plus you’re a short walking distance to the downtown core and Inner Harbour.
Harris Green is found sandwiched between the neighbourhood of North Park to the north and Fairfield to the south. Rockland and Fernwood are found to the east, and the downtown core/Inner Harbour are to the west. That means Harris Green is literally surrounded by some of the trendiest neighbourhoods in the city, plus the cultural and commercial hub of downtown Victoria.
Being an extremely small and population dense neighbourhood, Harris Green is home to a handful of Victoria’s tallest residential buildings and very little park space. Plus, there’s plenty of development in the works. If you’re looking for a place to let the dog run loose or enjoy some greenspace, the sprawling Beacon Hill Park is just minutes away on foot, plus there are some smaller parks up in North Park.

Things to do in Harris Green
- Browse the upper-Fort Street shops
The upper-Fort area of Harris Green is full of fun boutique shops, as well about a dozen restaurants and a tap room for craft beer lovers. Start around Cook Street and walk towards town – you’ll find plenty. There’s a bike shop, an art supplies shop, several clothing stores, a cigar shop, a jeweler, a yoga studio and much more.

Boomtown is relatively new to Victoria, but has quickly become a local favourite. They have one of the larger outdoor seating areas in the city that comes alive in the warmer months, making it the place to be in Harris Green. The specialize in burritos, nachos, margaritas and beer. Plus, be sure to stop by for happy hour from 3:30-5:30pm!
- Get a tattoo
Harris Green is home to Urge Studios, one of the best tattoo shops in the city. If you’ve been planning a new piece or are feeling spontaneous, be sure to drop by Urge! You can book an appointment plus they also do drop-ins.
- Go for brunch at Blue Fox

Blue Fox Café is one of Victoria’s most highly rated breakfast and brunch spots, located right on Fort Street in Harris Green. They serve breakfast all day until 2 or 3, featuring organic espresso, Huevos Rancheros, eggs benny, pancakes and more. Just be sure to arrive early to beat the line!
