Tips for Sellers on June 15th:

  • One person’s junk is another’s treasure! As long as items are acceptably clean and in working condition, don’t be afraid to put your items out for sale, no matter how old or unorthodox.
  • Keep small change handy. Many garage sale goers will be equipped with the bank-standard $20 bills, so you’re going to need some smaller bills and coins.
  • Get everything ready on time. Garage sales tend to spark unusual levels of enthusiasm, so don’t be surprised to see people show up right at open time. Get everything out on the street in advance, and make sure your stuff is well separated from things that are not for sale.
  • Advertising works! And in the case of garage sales, it will next to impossible for people to find you sale unless there is clear signage posted around the neighbourhood (days in advance if possible). Don’t forget to include open/close times, and consider peaking interest by featuring some of the items you’re selling.
  • Don’t be afraid to give things away. The reality, is not all of your stuff will fetch the price you’re hoping for. Especially if things are heavily worn or not in the best condition, consider having a ‘free bin’ for less desirable items.
