Lady Marmalade – Jodi’s Restaurant Reviews

I love going for breakfast or lunch at Lady Marmalade!  The place has such a funky, cheerful atmosphere with intentionally mismatched decor lending to the eclectic ambiance.  It’s often busy, that’s because the food is amazing.  I don’t mind waiting a few minutes for a seat, it just sharpens my appetite.

Lady Marmalade opened its doors in 2005, a labour of love for a brother and sister team originally from Toronto.  Carla and David Cherry created an inventive menu with new interpretations of eggs benny and classic Mexican dishes.  David has since returned to Toronto to open a second Lady Marmalade location and Carla continues to run Lady M in Victoria BC.

I’m working my way through all the different eggs benny; don’t ask me which is my favourite, they’re all so good.  I’d also highly recommend the cheddar and spinach waffles, they are really different and yummy!

One thing I enjoy is that the entire menu is available all day, so if I want breakfast for lunch or lunch for breakfast I can have it… now if only they’d open for supper.  They do offer lots of meatless options for the vegetarians, the Madre Tierra sandwich is particularly delicious and satisfying.

If you’re craving something fresh and different for breakfast or lunch, you can’t go wrong by visiting Lady Marmalade, it’s one of my favourite places to eat in Victoria.
