Tennis in Victoria BC

Thanks to a cooperative climate and an abundance of public facilities, tennis is an outdoor sport enjoyed by many who visit or are living in Victoria.

If you are a serious tennis enthusiast, you may wish to join a local tennis club to connect with other high level players, or find a good coach.  There are several clubs:

The Victoria Tennis Club (VTC) – is a volunteer driven, public organization devoted to the promotion of tennis in Victoria BC.

The Saanich Tennis Club was established in 1974 and their courts are located in the Royal Oak Area;

The Oak Bay Recreation Centre operates a tennis centre offering comprehensive tennis instructional programs year round for the beginning tennis player through to the advanced competitor.

Glen Meadows Tennis Club is located at the Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club in North Saanich and offers tennis instruction and organized play April through September.

The Langford Tennis Club was established in the 1920’s and has since served the western communities.  Their main courts are located at Royal Roads University and the club also has access to courts at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre.

The Peninsula Tennis Club was formed in 2000 and operates out of Panorama Recreation Centre on both indoor and outdoor courts.

Another excellent organization promoting Tennis in Victoria is the Victoria Virtual Tennis Club – a website that allows players from all over the area to connect and arrange matches at a number of facilities.  Most of the local clubs are affiliated with this organization to allow members  access to competition outside of their club.

As you can see, there is no shortage of clubs, if you wish to join one, and no shortage of venues if you just want to get out there and play.  People who are living in Victoria are fortunate indeed, to have such great access to outdoor sports like tennis.
