Devonian Regional Park is a small oceanside nature sanctuary in the municipality of Metchosin. Forested trails wind along Sherwood Creek down to the cobble beach, where you can enjoy watching for wildlife and gorgeous views across Juan de Fuca Strait to the Olympic Mountains. If you’re on horseback there is a designated equestrian trail to the beach.
Birdwatchers should check out Sherwood Pond; a great spot to see migrating waterfowl. Other wildlife you might see include river otters, harbour seals or on a very good day, orcas! The trails at Devonian Park are rated easy to moderate, so a wide range of visitors can enjoy this beautiful park.
How to Get to Devonian Regional Park
Take the Trans-Canada Highway from Victoria, and take exit #10 (Colwood). Follow this route which turns into Sooke Road. Turn left on Metchosin Road, which turns into William Head Road at the Happy Valley Road intersection. Follow William Head Road until you see the Devonian Regional Park sign on the left. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the park from Victoria. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. Visiting one of our beautiful regional parks is one of the best things to do in Victoria BC!
