Mt Work Regional Park is one of the largest regional parks in Victoria BC, offering diverse outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking, swimming, canoeing and fishing.  There are three lakes within the park;

  • Durrance Lake;
  • Fork Lake, and
  • Pease Lake

Durrance Lake is the most accessible of these and is popular with swimmers and fishers (it’s stocked with catch-able trout).

You may hike to the summit of Mt. Work, the trail is rated moderate to challenging.  Some portions of the trail are very exposed to wind and weather so be sure you are prepared before you go!

The Mt Work-Hartland trail system is open to mountain biking and offers a wide range of terrain ranging from moderate to very difficult.  The South Island Mountain Biking Society is a good source of trail information.
