Ten Mile Point residents have the privilege of accessing Gyro Beach and the adjoining Cadboro Bay Village on foot, which includes Pepper’s Foods, Moka House, and Smuggler’s Cove Pub. Many residents of the community also enjoy incredible views of the beach and bay from stunning ocean front properties.

The 15-hectare reserve was established by BC Parks in 1975 following the Ecological Reserves Act of 1971 in an effort to preserve ecosystems and biological diversity.
While the reserve is a place of tranquility and serenity, it isn’t intended for outdoor recreation; however, non-destructive activities like hiking and nature walking are allowed. Hunting, fishing, camping and foraging are strictly prohibited. And because vehicles aren’t allowed in, Ten Mile Point residents have unique and exclusive access to the peaceful reserve.
Discovery Island
If you’re up for an adventure, the beautiful and untouched Discovery Island Marine Park is not far off Ten Mile Point. Discovery Island is a relatively popular kayaking and camping destination for visitors and locals, but you won’t find any high-end facilities here – only a pit toilet, information shelter and picnic tables. Instead, the island is a place to be one with nature.
From nearby Cattle Point just north of Oak Bay, residents can launch kayaks with their sights set on Discovery Island.
