Football in Victoria BC

Football is alive and well in Victoria BC.  Whether you like tackle, touch or flag football, you’ll find a game that suits you.  This outdoor sport is generally played during the spring and fall months in Victoria.

As well as being a popular extra-curricular high school sport, tackle football is played in the community.  There are leagues catering to children, women and men in the Greater Victoria area, including:

  • The Greater Victoria Minor Football Association – has been teaching youth the principles of fair play, sportsmanship, teamwork and friendly competition for over 18 years. Their spring league runs from March through May, and is open to children aged 7 – 14.
  • The Victoria Women’s Football League offers flag football for women aged 16 – 50.  The non-contact recreational league is a great way for women to experience the camaraderie of playing a team sport, and excellent exercise to boot!  Their spring schedule runs from March through June.
  • The Victoria Touch Football League (VTFL) is a competitive men’s league featuring Vancouver Island-based football clubs. Founded in the early 1980s, the VTFL features teams and players of every calibre and experience, including high school, college and university, junior football and former professional CFL players.

So sign your kids up for Minor Football, or sign yourself up to play in one of the local leagues.  Football is an outdoor sport that people who are living in Victoria love to play.
