Greater Victoria – View Royal

Wherever you are in View Royal, you are close to anything you could need or want, and that’s one of the big advantages of living here.  The City of Victoria is right next door, with all the shopping, restaurants, and entertainment that a tourism oriented city has to offer.

If you like to travel, the BC or Washington State Ferry systems as well as the Victoria International Airport can take you wherever you want to go.  Or if you like your recreation closer to home, there are tons of things to do right here; there are hiking or walking trails, explore the famous Galloping Goose trail, it passes through View Royal as it winds its way from Sooke to Victoria. Head up to Thetis Lake for a dip, the water is lovely on a hot summer day.  Maybe you would like to try some canoeing or kayaking on the lake or in Portage Inlet, these protected waters make for some serene, relaxing paddling.

A little further afield, you can travel up-island about three hours to a world class ski resort.  Mt Washington proved to the world in 2010 that it was one of the best places for Nordic sport, as it provided Olympic athletes with the opportunity to train in advance of the games held in Vancouver.  There was no shortage of snow here!

From white to green – we can’t forget golf!  Victoria boasts a plethora of lovely courses and the climate to enjoy them year round.  The newest public course in Victoria is located right here in View Royal, the Highland Pacific Golf Course sits between Victoria General Hospital and Thetis Lake Park.

All in all, you’d be hard pressed to find many communities in Canada that can equal View Royal in the categories of access to amenities, climate, and affordability, and dare I say, most of them would be in Greater Victoria!
