Join the crowd at the 2012 Victoria Kidney Walk on August 12th at Clover Point in Victoria BC. The Kidney Foundation of Canada (BC Branch) is celebrating the 5th annual Give the Gift of Life Kidney Walk and hopes to see you and all your friends there to support the cause.
The Victoria Kidney Walk is one of many events taking place in communities across Canada. These walks are the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s most important fundraising and awareness campaign, supporting the well-being of kidney patients and their families, the battle against kidney disease, and the need for more organ donors.
The Kidney Foundation hopes to draw attention to the fact that, while 85% of Canadians are in favour of organ donation, only 18% have registered to become donors. This great gap between “will do” and “did do” is endangering the 2,800 people I BC alone who are undergoing dialysis while they await a suitable donor.
You may enter as an individual or cobble together a team to enter this fun event, while raising some much needed funds to help implement patient support and research programs in your region. There is no charge for registration or minimum amount that needs to be raised.
