ASAP Theatre Company

The ASAP Theatre Company is a new, make that very newtheatre company in Victoria.  The summer of 2010 was their inaugural season and they produced two entertaining musical shows.

The first show; “A Party Worth Crashing”was a very energetic musical review/variety show which was reviewed by Thandi Fletcher for the Victoria Times-Colonist.  “RENT” in the 2010’s was how she described the show.

Their second was The Last 5 Years, a musical originally performed in New York off-Broadway.  The tragic love story follows the relationship between two lovers over a five year period, cleverly structured to allow the two actors to tell their stories moving in opposite directions through time.

Both productions were performed at the Canadian College of the Performing Arts (CCPA), which is nestled cozily between Theatre Lane and Poets’ Corner in Oak Bay.

Intriguingly, the ASAP Theatre Company website indicates other, impromptu performances will take place.  They state “Look for ASAP out and about on the streets of Victoria, performing for the masses with some of the best new musical theatre out there!”

Certainly this group is young, full of enthusiasm and talent, and plans for next summer’s productions are doubtless being hatched even now.  Be on the lookout for announcements about the 2011 season.  People who are living in Victoria can look forward to more musical theatre entertainment – ASAP,  from this fledgling theatre company.
