Upcoming Events in Victoria BC: The Victoria Film Festival

The 2013 Victoria Film Festival is set to go from Feb 1-10.  People who are living in Victoria can look forward to escaping winter (yes, we call it winter here, though most Canadians scoff at our winter weather) into the cozy confines of several cinemas around the city.

The festival began in 1995, with the inaugural Victoria Independent Film & Video Festival running for three days and featuring three Canadian feature films and several short length films. Since then it has grown steadily in length as well as scope, reaching its present 10 day run in 2001.

Along with screenings the festival offers many other opportunities for film buffs, film makers and artists to come together at celebratory galas, pre and post screening meals and tastings at a number of local venues including Spinnakers Brew Pub, Yates St. Taphouse, Veneto Tapa Lounge and Argyle Attic among others.

This year films will be screened at:

  • Empire Theatres, Capitol 6; Theatres 5 and 6, 805 Yates St.
  • The Vic Theatre, 808 Douglas St., and
  • Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa Theatre, 810 Humboldt St.
